The Garanohur Lake hiking experience is a full-day journey from Baku into the forested landscapes of Shahdag National Park, the largest national park in Azerbaijan.
The day begins with an early pickup in Baku followed by a scenic drive toward the Ismayilli region. After a breakfast stop on the way, the route continues toward the national park entrance where the hike begins.
The trail initially follows an unpaved road before transitioning into forest paths leading deeper into the national park. The route passes through dense woodland and gradually gains elevation toward the lake area. The final section of the trail is noticeably steeper, adding a more physically demanding finish to the hike.
After covering approximately 4.5 km, the trail reaches Garanohur Lake, a small mountain lake surrounded by forested slopes. The area includes picnic and resting spots, making it an ideal place for a tea break and light lunch in nature.
After spending time at the lake, the group returns along the same route back through the forest. On the way back to Baku, the experience concludes with a hot meal at a local restaurant.
