Overview

Mount Bazardüzü (4,466 m) is the highest peak in Azerbaijan, located in the remote Greater Caucasus range near the border with Russia. This 3-day private guided climb is designed to provide better acclimatization, a safer summit attempt, and a more balanced ascent compared to shorter itineraries.

The route is non-technical but physically demanding, involving steep ascents, rocky alpine terrain, and prolonged exposure to high altitude. The additional day allows climbers to acclimatize properly before summit day, increasing both safety and summit success rates.

This trip is suitable only for experienced hikers with strong physical fitness and prior mountain trekking experience.

This 3-day private itinerary is carefully designed to ensure comfort, acclimatization, and a well-paced summit attempt. As a private experience, the program may be tailored to individual preferences and timing, with adjustments made when necessary due to weather or safety conditions.

Day 1 :

Baku → Khinalig (Acclimatization & Preparation)

Morning departure from Baku
Scenic drive through the Guba/Gusar region
Arrival in Khinalig village (≈2,350 m), one of Europe’s highest inhabited settlements
Short acclimatization walk around the village and the surrounding viewpoints
Equipment check and briefing with the guide
Overnight stay in a local guesthouse

Drive time: ~4-5 hours
Overnight: Guesthouse in Khinalig village
Altitude: ~2,150 m

Day 2 :

Khinalig → Bazardüzü Basecamp 2

Early breakfast and final gear preparation
4x4 drive from Khinalig village to Basecamp 1
Start of the approach hike toward Bazardüzü Basecamp 2
Gradual ascent from alpine meadows and rocky terrain
Arrival at Basecamp 2 in the afternoon
Rest, hydration, and acclimatization
Early dinner and preparation for summit day

4x4 Drive time: ~1 hour
Hiking time: ~2–3 hours
Overnight: Mountain basecamp (tents)
Altitude: ~3,200 m (depending on camp location)

Day 3 :

Summit Day → Return to Baku

Very early alpine start (night or pre-dawn)
Ascent toward Mount Bazardüzü summit (4,466 m)
Time on the summit depends on weather and conditions
Descent back to Basecamp 2
Continued descent, 4x4 drive to Khinalig, and vehicle transfer back to Baku
